Terms of Use
Effective date: 2026-08-17
Last reviewed: 2026-08-17
These Terms of Use govern access to https://pettreatmentindex.com and the services made available through The Pet Treatment Index. “The Pet Treatment Index,” “we,” and “us” mean the online publication at https://pettreatmentindex.com and its operator.
By using the site, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
Educational publication—not veterinary care
The site provides general educational information about pet treatments, evidence, regulatory status, safety sources, cost observations, insurance considerations, alternatives, access, and questions an owner may discuss with a veterinarian.
The site does not provide:
- veterinary advice;
- an examination or diagnosis;
- a prescription, dosage, or treatment plan;
- a prognosis;
- emergency monitoring;
- a veterinarian-client-patient relationship;
- personalized insurance, legal, or financial advice;
- or a guarantee that a treatment, provider, price, policy, or claim will fit a particular situation.
Do not start, stop, delay, or change care based only on this site. Consult a qualified veterinarian who can evaluate the animal and complete history.
Emergencies
The site cannot determine whether a situation is an emergency.
If you believe your pet may be experiencing an emergency, contact a veterinarian or emergency animal hospital immediately. Do not wait for a website update, form response, correction review, email, or Treatment Alert.
No guarantee of completeness or currentness
We work to use clear methods, source material, dates, and corrections. Scientific evidence, regulatory status, labels, warnings, recalls, prices, policy forms, access, and third-party information can change.
The site may contain errors, omissions, delays, or unavailable features. A date shows when the identified review or verification occurred; it does not guarantee that every fact remains current when you read it.
You are responsible for checking time-sensitive information with the linked authoritative source and an appropriate professional.
Treatment and emerging-product content
Discussion of an approved, conditionally approved, indexed, investigational, compounded, unapproved, or emerging treatment is not an endorsement, prescription, dosing instruction, or statement that the treatment is lawful or appropriate in every circumstance.
The site does not authorize access to a treatment. Do not treat laboratory, other-species, anecdotal, or marketing material as proof of clinical benefit in your pet.
Cost and insurance information
Cost observations are not quotes. Prices, inclusions, treatment needs, providers, and geographic markets vary.
Insurance information is general. The policy, endorsements, state law, medical history, waiting periods, insurer, and claim decision control. The Pet Treatment Index does not bind coverage, negotiate insurance, make a personalized policy recommendation, or guarantee reimbursement.
Permitted use
You may use the public site for lawful personal, educational, journalistic, research, and internal business purposes consistent with these Terms.
You may link to public pages and quote limited portions with appropriate attribution, subject to applicable law. A future public dataset may have a separate license or attribution policy that controls use of that dataset.
Automated crawlers may access public pages when they comply with the site’s robots.txt, do not evade access controls, do not overload the service, and do not use the content unlawfully. Permission to crawl is not permission to republish a substantial part of the site as a competing product or to remove attribution where the law or a dataset license requires it.
Prohibited use
You may not:
- use the site to provide unlawful veterinary, insurance, pharmacy, or other regulated services;
- misrepresent site content as a diagnosis, prescription, regulatory approval, or guarantee;
- copy or republish a substantial portion of the site in a way that substitutes for the original publication, except as allowed by law or a separate license;
- remove copyright, source, attribution, disclosure, or safety notices;
- scrape or access the site in a manner that creates unreasonable load or evades technical controls;
- probe, disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to the site, database, email, forms, or infrastructure;
- submit malware, spam, fraudulent requests, or misleading source material;
- impersonate another person or organization;
- submit information you do not have the right to share;
- send medical records, payment credentials, passwords, or other sensitive information the forms do not request;
- use contact or correction channels to harass, threaten, manipulate rankings, or demand removal of accurate information;
- or use the site in violation of applicable law.
Intellectual property
The site’s original text, design, organization, graphics, code, compilations, and branding are owned by or licensed to the operator of The Pet Treatment Index and are protected by applicable law.
Third-party sources, trademarks, documents, studies, and logos remain the property of their owners. Reference to a third party does not imply affiliation or endorsement.
“The Pet Treatment Index” and related branding may not be used to imply that another site, product, provider, or service is operated, approved, or endorsed by us.
Submissions
When you submit a contact message, correction, supporting source, privacy request, or accessibility report, you represent that:
- the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- you have the right to submit it;
- it does not knowingly infringe another person’s rights;
- and it does not contain unnecessary sensitive information.
You retain ownership of material you own. You grant us a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to receive, store, reproduce, analyze, and use the submission as reasonably necessary to operate the service, investigate the issue, verify a source, make a correction, protect the site, and respond to you. This license does not authorize us to publish your personal identity as a testimonial without separate permission.
We may decline, delete, or preserve a submission as allowed by the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Treatment Alerts
Treatment Alerts require confirmation and may be delayed, filtered, or unavailable. They are not emergency, safety-monitoring, medical, regulatory, recall, or investment services. Do not rely on an alert as the only way to learn about a time-sensitive matter.
You may unsubscribe at any time. We may suspend or end alerts to protect the service, comply with law, or change the product.
External links and third parties
The site may link to regulators, research databases, policy documents, insurers, providers, pharmacies, retailers, manufacturers, trials, or other third parties.
We do not control and are not responsible for a third party’s content, security, availability, pricing, eligibility, advice, products, services, or privacy practices. Review the third party’s terms and policies before using it.
A future compensated link will be disclosed. Compensation does not create a warranty or make the third party our agent.
Affiliate and sponsored relationships
Some future pages or emails may include clearly disclosed compensated links or sponsored content. The rules appear in the Affiliate & Sponsorship Disclosure.
A commercial relationship does not guarantee inclusion, ranking, accuracy, availability, eligibility, price, outcome, or claim payment.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, complete, current, or suitable for a particular purpose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Pet Treatment Index and its operator, contributors, contractors, reviewers, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of data, revenue, opportunity, or goodwill; or decisions made in reliance on the site or a third party.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the extent permitted by applicable law. These limits do not apply where the law prohibits them.
Changes, suspension, and termination
We may change, suspend, remove, merge, redirect, or discontinue content or features. We may restrict access when reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or service integrity.
We may update these Terms. A material update will receive a new last-reviewed date. Continued use after the effective date of updated Terms means you accept the updated Terms to the extent permitted by law.
Severability and waiver
If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect to the extent possible. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
Applicable law
These Terms are governed by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms removes a consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived. The appropriate forum and governing jurisdiction may depend on the operator, user, and applicable law.
